Tanto sword, Known as 'CHATANNAKIRI'. Mounting:16-17th cent. Blade:15th cent.

This is the ancestral sword of the Sho royal family. This sword is known for legends about exchanging it to a rice paddy in Chatan, Chatan Town or magic sword. Its blade was made in Japan and it has flat surface, triple-surface back of the blade and slight curvature. However, it is actually a dagger which is sharp as a razor. The scabbard is covered with inlaid mother-of-pearl which features small square-shaped pieces of great green turban shell. The character "天 (ten)" and symbols for weight and rundle were engraved on the back of the gold-covered knife handle and hair sticks which attached to the sheath of a sword.
